Historical Aerial Photographs

The Waikato Regional Council has collected historic aerial photographs for a range of uses, including shoreline change analysis, estuarine habitat mapping and coastal development studies. These photographs range from low resolution black and white aerials (vertical and oblique) to recent orthorectified high resolution colour images. In recent years the Council has obtained digital orthorectified images for the coastline, with the earliest coverage from the 1940s. The quality and availability of the data is varied.
