Summary
An assessment of the environmental effects of the drilling activities on the surrounding environment. As the activities are well beyond the 12 mile territorial waters of NZ the application is not required by the RMA (1991). The preparation of the AEE is intended to: Support the Conoco UK Ltd – NZ branch application for approval under the Maritime Transport Act 1994. Provide relevant NZ government departments and interested parties with information on the proposed exploration activities and their environmental implications. Purpose: To provide information on the environmental effects of the proposed Karewa-1 project.

Descriptions of the physical, biological and socio-economic characteristics of the license area environment. An assessment of the effects of the following associated parameters on the license area environment: liquid waste discharges, air emissions, noise and lighting, physical disturbance, navigation, garbage and solid waste discharges, radioactive sources, social and economic.
