4. Data acquisition information

Collection Date
1979-1998 data.
Methodology
Hindcast wave model (> 1 km offshore conditions) based on 1979-1998 simulated waves from wind data from ECMWF. Frequency of collection: Every 3 hours

5. Data quality information

Known Limitations
Deep water simulation so doesn't take into account shallow water refraction and diffraction. Attribute accuracy: Inshore calibrations for many hindcast sites. Nearest wave buoys for Waikato Region are Maui on West Coast. Mokohinau (ARC) still operating. Katikati buoy operating from 1991-95.
